Evolutionary: “The gradual development of something.”

Inception: “The establishment of starting point of something.”

This was my first solo fashion show. I wanted to be able to show everyone what I had been working on and what direction my brand was headed in. When choosing the theme, it was a no brainer for me. I always loved the movie “THE FIFTH ELEMENT”. It was only right that I paid homage to LEELOO and CORBIN DALLAS. I based my designs and elemental theme around LEELOO’S infamous white bandage costume and orange wig.

In this show, I went back to the beginning of Normal Culture (INCEPTION) and I picked white pieces from each collection to show along with new white garments I created (EVOLUTIONARY). There were a total of 43 pieces shown. We started with swimwear, debuted a mens capsule/conceptual collection and ended with women’s ready to wear. The movie came out in 1996, so all of the models walked to the hottest and best chart topping songs from that year.

With this being my very first solo fashion show and the same weekend as the GRAMMY’S, I wasn’t sure what to expect. However, the amount of people that came out to support Normal Culture shocked me. It is definitely a day to remember and I can’t wait to make this an annual event. BIGGER AND BETTER WITH EACH YEAR.
